Ensure your car is fit for the road

Ultra Tune offers roadworthy inspections to ensure your car is fit for the road. Our approved stores across Australia are authorised to conduct these inspections, depending on the state's regulations, as an Approved Inspection Station, Authorised Inspection Station (AIS), or Licenced Vehicle Tester. This authorisation allows us to issue Roadworthy Certificates (RWC) upon completion. We follow each state's guidelines during the inspection process and have fully licensed testers available to conduct the inspection. You can book a roadworthy certificate inspection at any Ultra Tune store in NSW, VIC, QLD, ACT, TAS, and NT.

Roadworthy Certificates

If you’re looking to get a Roadworthy Certificate (RWC) for your car, it’s important to note that the requirements can vary depending on the state or territory you’re in. Regardless of where you are in Australia, it’s crucial that the inspection is conducted by a licensed professional authorized to issue RWCs.

How long does the inspection take? When booking a roadworthy certificate inspection, it’s best to set aside 2-4 hours. The specific requirements for each state may differ, but generally include taking detailed photos of your vehicle, a road test, and a safety check in accordance with your state’s regulations. Don’t hesitate to ask any questions you may have beforehand or on the day of the inspection.

What happens if I pass or fail? If your vehicle passes the inspection, you will usually receive an electronic roadworthy certificate. If it fails, you’ll have a certain amount of time (depending on your state) to complete any necessary repairs and bring the vehicle back for a follow-up inspection. You can choose to get the repairs done elsewhere, or take advantage of Ultra Tune’s expert team of repairers to help you get your car roadworthy. Our state-by-state guide can help you determine when you need a roadworthy certificate and how to get one in your local area.

In NSW, light vehicles (with a Gross Vehicle Mass below 4.5 tonnes) that are over 5 years old require an annual roadworthy certificate to renew their registration. This certificate is also known as a vehicle safety check or an eSafety pink slip. At Ultra Tune, we offer roadworthy certificates (pink slips) for light vehicles, motorbikes, and trailers, which can be obtained up to 6 months before the registration expiry date.

To get a roadworthy certificate (pink slip) in NSW, you need to book an inspection at an Authorised Inspection Station (AIS). The results of the inspection are then lodged with Roads and Maritime Services, which allows you to renew your registration online once you’ve obtained your green slip insurance.

If your registration has lapsed for more than 90 days, you need to obtain a blue slip.
